The Expressive Arts Faculty consists of Art, Drama and Music with each subject team teaching their own specialism in addition to linking with each other to produce high quality productions, show cases and extra- curricular events and trips. Our aim is to deliver a varied and challenging curriculum, providing opportunities to develop creativity and fill our pupils with optimism and self-belief.
At Argoed we fully believe that our pupils leave having developed their confidence, creativity and communication and the Arts have a vital role in ensuring that our learners achieve this.
Argoed High school puts on a large scale production biannually, with around 80- 100 pupils getting involved acting, costume and make- up, playing instruments, doing the set and helping back stage. We pride ourselves on producing excellent, high standard shows which are always a sell out over 4 nights! Some of the latest productions have been:
We also intermittently put on smaller scale shows and events over the years and perform in the consortium concert, Christmas Concerts, Summer Prom and Flintshire’s schools in performance.
When school productions are not in progress we have a Drama Club where pupils can build their confidence and skills during a lunch time club.
The Drama department also runs many trips to the theatre throughout the year including plays, musicals and pantomimes for all years. We also run an annual London trip with the English department to the West End and have even been to Broadway in New York!
The department offers a plethora of events that all pupils in the Argoed can get involved in!
